  10.  @Aesthetic.Ascetic  I guess I'm an outlier, but there's definitely others. Most women I'm around have actually purchased property on their own before getting married. But I like the idea of the man paying most expenses, so that's what I'm going for time. Thanks for the tip. 👍

I'm interested in men who feel good about being a provider. The ones who are only interested in hoarding their money and being stingy, can go ahead and do that - without me.

  12. Because it's never 100% 50/50. Financial sure, but the rest: emotional, affection, household chores, children, attention, etc. Somebody is always coming up short in most cases.

  14.  @sarahrobertson634  That's why I kept working full time at my 6-figure job after I started having children. I asked my then husband if he was willing to pay me at least 100k while I was at home and he couldn't come up with a coherent answers. Long story short, I recommend that all women have their own money and never do the full time housewife thing. Your work will not be appreciated most of the time in that situation.

  16.  @nomadronin707  Well, if you're under the impression that "unpaid duties" include those things that you listed, then you don't know what you're doing and you're not ready for the responsibilities of being the head of a family with a wife and children. You can learn about it by reading books and watching videos by men who actually do have a successful marriage and family... (This psychologist does not)

  21.  @Aesthetic.Ascetic  The phrase "saving for a rainy day" is an indication of a scarcity mindset. If you're saving for rainy days, you're guaranteed to have rainy days. have proven that one can indeed use (we don't use the word "spend" in my house) money on absolute luxuries and still have large amounts of money to share and to spare. The key is not squirreling away and saving/hoarding, but giving - because you must give in order to receive. And I am constantly receiving. Those who say "spend money wisely" are the types who will scrutinize and criticize every purchase, whether big or small. They do not understand how to enjoy money and they think that the giving of any money at all will impoverish them. No thanks, I'm doing things differently.

  22.  @Aesthetic.Ascetic  I am a medical doctor (former military officer) with 20+ years of experience and live in Switzerland. I also have degrees in Engineering and Finance and I have been investing steadily since around 2002. I have all sorts of appreciating assets including real estate and diverse investments. God provides me with all good things to enjoy. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. That being said, I grew up in a middle-class household which was a farm on a lot of land. Both sets of grandparents also owned large tracts of land (with mineral rights). I've never experienced financial lack. I've found out over the years that I can indeed have it all: a luxury lifestyle, appreciating assets, passive income and generational wealth (my son started choosing investments when he was 10). Frugality/stinginess/hoarding has no place in my life.

  24.  @worndown8280  Oh, they're not bad people, they just don't understand how to contribute to a successful relationship. First problem is thinking that once they're married, they can stop paying attention to their wives and then continue to live with the same level of responsibility the had before marriage and children - leaving their working wives to take care of all other responsibilities. It simply doesn't work. But, like I said, a woman who is financially independent can just leave. These 50/50 finances "men" aren't worth the aggravation in a marriage.

  32.  @mtd963  Well, if the wife is dropping off kids, picking up kids, cooking, helping with homework, reading bedtime stories, taking care of the yard, doing laundry, cleaning the house, shopping, taking care of the cars.... Then what's left? And all of this is definitely quantifiable because we know what housekeepers, school taxi service, pet sitters, tutors, Gardners and all that costs. And it isn't cheap. I used to have a housekeeper, so I know.

  37.  @petermulinzi1288  I'm a generous giver. I like giving gifts and doing things for people and I also tithe and donate to charities. The habits of cheap, stingy people disgust me. Their avoidance of giving is also what keeps them struggling and experiencing loss financially. On the contrary, my giving makes me rich.
