  4. Simply modern people are not acquainted with old concepts of Imperial tradition. They just see it either in nationalistic or socialistic terms and don't get down to the actual deal of divine power. Metatron, I saw others asking you the same thing, can you comment on Schwerpunkt? He made actually A LOT of videos on Imperial tradition and they seem incredibly relevant to the points discussed

  5. How do you know SO much? I mean one thing is having a script, reading and editing it, etc.. But you just go on an on with anecdotes, analyses, references to the most obscure figures, themes, dynamics, quantifying/evaluating them critically. Wtf man this channel is turning into an encyclopedia

  7. This is objectively the only channel on YouTube that gives true historical expertise. It is not clear how in 2023 people continue to get superstitiously dragged into the vortex of suggestions on YouTube without knowing a channel like Schwerpunkt. Virtually all of Medieval history, politics, warfare, society is covered in ultra-expertise and detail, the information is excellent, the judgement, objectivity, culture is beyond anything else I have found on this platform.

I also think that we should be more generous with Latin-Germanic history and not take Byzantium as a model of perfection or ideological or moral justice over the accomplishments of other peoples. Undoubtedly the true Byzantine history is not yet disclosed to the masses beyond the ideological symbolism of the Empire. I agree: most of it is not history, it is just an arbitrary attitude

While there are channels making the umpteenth video about "what if a Samurai used a rapier!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!" you are able to talk about over a hour about not just about the second half of the 6th century Byzantine half-armored horse but explaining why it came into play historically with these features, for which employment, from which tradition, with which spread, from which cultural influences, for which collective and individual tactical function, discussing the materiel, the general outfit, the horse breed type, etc. I mean, I don't know what to say any more about in comparison to other channels to make the point

  47. The best thing imo is to share Schwerpunkt's videos at full pelt. Simply no other channel can compare in terms of historical accuracy, they won't get into the concrete issues as these are too complex and challenge too many prejudices. It's as if youtube had become a mass cognitive dissonance fueler. Also most people who follow this channel don't actually understand the content: they subscribe because they think the channel is made to flatter themselves or where they come from while it's only made for History.

  50. I think that you're being sabotaged by your own followers: the reason, a mystery. I can't understand the logic behind the views distribution, other than prejudice against certain topics, probably national in nature. These are high level academic classes that people would highly pay for in an university and subscribers lack the chance of even clicking on them. Scary

It has a lot to do with YouTube culture as well: most bigger channels just spread a largely Anglo-centric and few centuries-old hierarchy of historical topics based on the cheap mass schooling of a couple of national historiographies. It's as if an entire part of European history was removed from the collective imaginary. What perplexes the most about Schwerpunkt's audience is that by now they should be habituated to elite European culture and at least some autonomous capacity of objective historical hierarchy. Yet they purposely don't like certain topics: if they hope to see less of this content they are very wrong but even more so if they imagine to know anything about European history.
