  1. Sapolsky is a very smart guy, an academic and an intellectual. What he does does, in all likelihood, come naturally to him. Yes, he works hard, and yes, he is very good at what he does. We are lucky to have him, and a few thousands similar to him, in the world to show us the way...

  2. I think we should thank Stanford as much as Dr. Sapolsky. Stanford is of course Sapolsky's employer, and IT actually owns his lectures. Students usually pay a high price to attend his lectures, so to offer them to everybody, free of charge, is an act of generosity by Stanford as much as by Prof. Sapolsky.

  4. Excellent teachers can be found in any school, though the more prestigious schools will be less likely to tolerate poor teachers. I had excellent math teachers at UMass, who were able to teach me 2 semesters worth of calculus in 10 weeks (a summer session), right out of HS, where I did not have pre-calculus, or any particular proficiency in math. I had other teachers who were similarly good... and a few who were anything BUT. My wife went to Smith, and she RAVES about the quality of the teaching there.
