  1. Therefore, it must be very detuned and therefore, presumably, highly reliable and durable. Nevertheless, I think 5.6L should have more like 300hp, at least. 400 would be better!

  3. “Taking away all the challenges of your drive,” to me, is what makes driving BORING. That’s why I WANT a MT, as well as power, good handling etc. Making it easier, by making everything automatic, is of little interest to me.

  4. My BMW has 240HP, and it gets about 21mpg (and is no doubt faster than the Merc). That big V8 should be making 300-400HP, and still get 12mpg! I guess Mercedes wasn’t too concerned with gas mileage OR power when gas cost $1.50/gallon…

  5.  @gabormolnar1785  Why would “taxation conditions” (in Europe I presume you mean) cause this engine to make 400hp? How do “taxation reasons” cause low compression?
