  2. The only problems with making it an RX-7 are that RX-7s are more expensive than Miatas, so available to fewer customers, and the RX-7 has a rotary engine, which is thirstier and less reliable than the alternatives. That it is a dedicated coupe argues against it being a Miata.

  3. If they kill the manual transmission, I’m not just done with Mazda, I may be done with life itself. Practically the whole reason I drive a Miata is for the MANUAL transmission. Everything else is totally sweet as well, but the MT is the soul of the car. It is, IMHO, the soul of ANY car.

  5. I must admit, I don’t care that much about the newer models. I have a NM 1997 M-edition, and I am satisfied (except for maybe wanting another ‘94, like the one I let go, after 11 years, 15 years ago… I also occasionally consider an NC)!

  7. Wow! I’ve been a little cool about recent Miata models, which I think try too hard. This new one, however, reminds me of an NA! It has that simplicity! If it comes through looking like that, I WILL WANT ONE!
