  2. Huge bunkers like that must be the result of too many resources! When a government has a lot of money to spend, it spends it! And we are a very rich society, and Switzerland wants its security. It is small, and cannot defend itself with brute force… But it CAN dig in.

  4. Ukraine was in fact a part of the Russian Federation as much as 1000 years back, and has been formally part of Russia since the 1770s. That much is true, but the relationship has always been uneasy. I used to think Putin had a legitimate claim on Ukraine, however, that was before I know how strongly so many Ukrainians want independence. Now, Ukraine has made a break with Russia, and wants, in many cases more than life itself, to be independent. We should respect that and so should Russia, but if Russia FAILS to understand that, then it will have a very big battle on its hands.
