  6. NONE of them are making any more “sacrifices” to give relief after Helene than anybody else does to do a job. They are doing a valuable service, true, but that doesn’t make them heroes, except perhaps in the broadest sense. GOOD JOB FEMA, but they’re just doing their jobs.

  8. Presidents may in fact need some immunity from prosecution for OFFICIAL acts, but they must not have immunity for CRIMINAL acts! That is the distinction. There are certain things presidents have traditionally bern permitted to do, without fear of prosecution, e.g. make war, or assassinate foreign enemies. But domestic crimes, without legitimate justification? Presidents must NOT have that kind of immunity. If there was in fact legitimate justification for such an act, that also would be permitted. In other words, presidents already have enough power to do their jobs effectively. They do not need “total immunity” in fact, that kind of immunity would be very, very dangerous.

They were, and he was clearly breaking the rules, which is to say, the law (and they knew it, because immediately thereafter, Trump continued his violation by making a political ad out of his ill-gotten footage, an act specifically prohibited under the cemetery rules). They should all have been arrested on the spot! I say they should repeat that ceremony, without the terrible stain on the image! If I were a soldier, buried at Arlington, I would be seriously disturbed to know that Domestic Enemy Number One had soiled our sacred ground. Trump deserves to be arrested more than any other man I know. Why isn’t he behind bars? That he isn’t throws the entire American endeavor into doubt!

  39. My unusually well-to-do sister just announce her allegiance to Donald Trump! She lives in a very nice, new designer house (on Martha’s Vineyard, no mortgage) that would qualify for a spread in House Beautiful, and she was unsure which way to go until recently. Last time I visited, she had become a full convert! Sad. The only upside is that she is going to be disappointed in November.
