Birmingham gets most of them being situated in the midlands.

They don't really make the news as they just wreck a few fences and the occasional roof.

Floods are more our thing. waves fist at the clouds

Hurricanes are also rare in Europe because they spawn in the Atlantic and move west towards the Americas, flooding seems to be the one disaster we get a lot of, and volcanoes if you live in Italy.

Isn't a cyclone much bigger? I always thought a cyclone was somewhere between a hurricane and a tornado as cyclones are visible from space.

Assuming the tornado touches down in an area with only tarmac in every direction because most cars won't reach 60mph off road.

They have those sirens in the UK near every mental hospital and they test them every month, if you ever hear the real thing it means someone has escaped and you should lock yourself indoors to stop yourself from getting eaten. Dundee had two such hospitals nearby when I was wee (Royal Liff and Strathmartine) so I remember all the mums running around scooping up kids every time the sirens were tested.

Gotta love a good cloudburst, especially on a hot summer day, we get them in Dundee around august. Nothing like getting saturated to the bone by warm rain in a deckchair with a can of T.

Birmingham gets tornadoes almost every year, they are just small and rip a couple of roofs off.
