The ISS is nearing the end of it's life but that is more to do with it's usefulness rather than it's durability since we've learned as much as we can with it so why not just tow it out to the moon and use it, or some of it, for the gateway? It's compartments might be between 20 and 30 years old but it's not as if things rust in space - attach a Soyuz to push it and then set course for the moon. If we get there and it turns out something has rattled loose from the burn or we can't get it into the required orbit then what have we lost? Only really a bunch of fuel since the Soyuz that pushed it there could be detached and brought home. Also the eventual inhabitants of the moon will have 400 tonnes of pancaked aluminium they can recycle 🤣 A win win!
