New York to Paris in two hours? More like New York to Sydney in two hours, this thing is closer to an ICBM than a Concorde.

In 100 years there will be a crazy inventor who exclaims "Great Scott-Scott!" every time he has a eureka moment.

No, you heard about the HOTOL craft that Alan Bond worked on originally.

@brocktechnology They've tested the engine three times, the pre-cooler worked each time.

Not sure if you are being serious but I'll bite. The ISS is in a constant state of falling and so the heavier you make it the faster it falls and the more often they need to boost it back up into a safer orbit. To make a 'space elevator' feasible you would need an anchor (the space station) that is heavier than the entire weight of the elevator and travelling fast enough around the planet that the centrifugal force offsets the weight of the elevator pulling it down.

Probably not, since the 1980's it has taken a miracle to get research funded in this country so it all rests on the folks at Reaction Engines going around trying to find investors. Building the second site in Colorado is probably in preparation for when the US government inevitably buys the technology, which I hope they do because I'd rather hop to Australia on a US plane in 2030 than wait 'til 2050 to do it on a British one.

"This is Houston, you are go for mushroom tip separation..."

Except 30 years ago under a completely different project the SABRE was a theory and the materials to build the pre-cooler didn't exist, today they have two fully working engines and have tested the pre-cooler three times.

Did you get the book back?

Clearly Mrs Scott wanted to keep her own surname in there when she married Mr Scott.

"JOHNSON!"

I can't figure out what Arnie is meant to be.

I hate to think of the families of the crew who were on the ground watching the launch, many just stared on in confusion...

@orchdork775 Ideally we need some form of a child-scanner, in ancient Sparta this was a manual job whereby a professional infant inspector would take newborns up to a clifftop and visibly examine them for signs of feebleness before either taking them back to their parents or yeeting them on to the rocks below. With modern technology this process could be automated with some kind of scanner at the hospital that a midwife would feed the newborn into for neurological analysis and it would give the results to the expectant parents along with the child, if it has passed - if it hasn't they would instead get consolation gift coupons and the baby would be yeeted out of the hospital onto some nearby rocks.

As a Scot I could go for some Scott/Scott on Scott-Scott action.

Pointing out he was a Nazi would be my guess.

@karlthemel2678 Thanks, New York to Sydney was a sleeper hit.

But you haven't clarified anything...

He clearly said in the video that Lindbergh was the first to fly solo in a plane. Everyone prior either had a co-pilot or was in an airship.
