  2.  @Cinnamon-y  There are two types of schizophrenic episodes, those that strike an as-yet undiagnosed sufferer and those that happen because someone stops taking their medication. Calocane was the latter, that makes him culpable in all three deaths even if he wasn't in his right frame of mind, because just like a regular person being fully responsible for anything they do on drugs a schizophrenic who stops taking their meds is fully responsible for anything they do off them. He won't be let out after a few years regardless of how well he is doing because he made the decision that led to the deaths. He will never set foot outside of hospital again. An undiagnosed schizophrenic who kills someone possibly can get released after just a couple of years, because there is no sense in punishing someone who had no control over their actions, and those people not only never become a danger again (because they never risk missing their meds even once), but they also have extreme remorse for the rest of their life for something they had no way of stopping.
