Comments by "Rob Fraser" (@krashd) on "The US' Overseas Military Base Strategy" video.
I remember when the US left RAF Edzell a few miles up the coast from me in 1996 they held a car boot sale (yard sale to you folks) to sell anything they couldn't take home to the US and every appliance on sale had a US plug on it. It seems that when the US goes abroad they decide "Right, let's burn all this local shit and create some America up in this bitch!" Think my dad bought (and subsequently rewired) a circular saw while I almost bought some NTSC games for the SNES.

Makes me wonder if US bases have a "letter of last resort"-type things whereby the occupants get instructions on what to do next if the US was flattened by nukes. Probably everyone is instructed to wait for the Nathan James to take them home :D

The UK has a presence in Arizona, the reaper drones we bought can only be operated from there so the squadron of pilots has to be based there.

Wendover is mainly an aircraft-oriented channel.

When we Brits handed HK back to China it came with a 50 year autonomy guarantee so it's up to the people of HK who is allowed to use the islands. Which annoys the hell out of Beijing and is one of the reasons they are so eager to circumvent HK's autonomy. Though I believe it's just a naval refuelling station, if it contained US military personnel or weaponry then the Chinese would scream blue murder at the United Nations until it was removed.

Charles De Gaulle kicked the Americans out in the 1960's when France left NATO after an argument with the US.

"Hello? I'm calling about your ad I saw, I want to offer you a good deal, a great deal on Greenland. It'll be a fantastic deal."

Hardly revealing, anyone who wanted to find it has already found it just like Wendover did.

Gamers already use fibre optic cables, how else do you think we communicate over distance?

Using the internet effectively.

Wendover is an aircraft enthusiast and his earlier videos (well all of his videos until recently) have been aircraft-oriented.

As long as you still feel the same in decades time when that empire begins to collapse and vultures circle.

Because an enemy of the US would never think of doing their own research. If a YouTuber can find something out then anyone can find the same thing out.

Whack-a-mole, you guys should have spanked that bearded tyrant with a giant mallet when he popped his head up from that hole.

@莫斯科-c5n There is, but it's an unmanned refuelling station of the navy.

Yes, so they don't really make the host country secure, they make the host country a target. Putin has mentioned on many occasions that he has missiles targeted at every major US base in Europe.

The founding fathers were amazing because they were all British :)

Prior to the collapse of the USSR much of central and south America were pro-USSR and sponsored by Russia so anytime a nation dropped socialism and got a pro-USA leader the CIA would quickly set up a base in order to spy on neighbouring countries. In the 50's and 60's South America was like a giant 2-player board game, you had Che Guevara going round turning nations red and the CIA going around turning them blue :D

Only one of us should pay the bill because only one of us occupies every other member's countries.
1
Why? All of these countries already have their own bases, why should they also have to pay for the American ones?
