  4. You need to heat the water enough to generate steam for the turbines, once the rods have cooled to the point that they just warm water rather than boiling it then you can't spin turbines from it any longer.

  5. A nuclear power plant can still have cooling towers though if it doesn't have access to fresh water, and 90% of NPP's are built adjacent to seawater.

  7. RBMK reactors are still used throughout the former soviet republics, they are dangerous but not imminently.

Each hydropower plant takes an area the size of a small country and makes it permanently unusable from that point on, the area that is now under water thanks to the three gorges dams is probably a larger area than Chernobyl and Fukushima's exclusion zones combined, several million Chins had to be relocated.

He meant that we could enter another dark age and come out the other side unaware of much of our history.
