It is still in Scotland. The studio moved from Dundee to Edinburgh while GTA3 was being made but the games are still made here.

@Aaliyahchannel2024 Do you remember a game called Driver? Driver beat GTA to the 3D market by two years by releasing in 1999 (GTA3 was 2001) but as amazing as that game was it was linear and scripted and forced the player to stick to specific routes and missions. Leslie Benzies, a new recruit at DMA Design said "Let's make the next game 3D like Driver, but with the open world and lack of restraints that GTA has". A phenomena was born...

1995-2000 was an epic time for games, Doom II, GTA, Half-life, Duke Nukem 3D, Deus Ex.

Eidos, formerly Core Design, they made some fantastic games even before Tomb Raider. Curse of Enchantia, Heimdall, Chuck Rock, Rick Dangerous. They were one of the 90's heavyweights of the Amiga scene alongside DMA Design, Bitmap Brothers, Sensible Software and Team 17. When I was a teen I only knew two things about Derby, the football team that Brian Clough turned into giants and Core Design. Greetings from Dundee :)

@jimallen9442 The Housers chose to put their headquarters in New York because they wanted to live in the US, that is true, but to call them an American company is pedantic and smacks of desperation.

I still love Walker, I played that game for hours on my Amiga.

After Psygnosis were forced to drop DMA Design due to financial problems BMG Interactive stepped in and became their new publisher, BMG would later go on to rename themselves Rockstar Games after GTAIII was released in 2001, five years after this video. Then they bought DMA and renamed them Rockstar North.

What does that even mean? The only English thing in this video is the reporter...

The only thing you took from this video was an excuse to spout some casual racism? I have to admit, I would have preferred to have lived back then too because bigoted clowns like you were few and far between.

Actually DMA Design is now known as Rockstar North. It is their publisher BMG Interactive that is known as Rockstar Games. BMG Interactive was a music label created by Take Two Interactive and managed by the sons (Dan and Sam Houser) of the guy who owned Take Two, the sons decided to start publishing games rather than music and with the money they made from GTA2 they could afford to buy BMG from their dad which they then renamed Rockstar Games, after that they bought DMA Design and named it Rockstar North. They have since bought a dozen other studios and given each of them the 'Rockstar' prefix but the two most successful are Rockstar North in Scotland and Rockstar San Diego in California. Their biggest franchises are GTA, Manhunt and Bully which are developed by North and Red Dead Redemption and Midnight Club which are developed by San Diego. San Diego is also the developer and maintainer of RAGE (Rockstar's Advanced Graphics Engine) which all Rockstar games are based on.
