Dundee brought chips to the UK? Man we need to add a C to the three J's.

Not so much ironic as pathetic and sad seeing as fried chips were introduced by French migrants to Dundee in 1840 (their grandson being interviewed in this clip) and fried fish was introduced by Jewish Hungarian migrants to London in 1870. The OP is a clear example of everything wrong in the UK - they blame migrants but it's people like them dragging this once great nation in to the gutter with their rampant stupidity and the ignorance they so proudly demonstrate.

He said 1840 in the video. The first place in the UK to serve chips to the public was a place in Dundee in 1840 that got the idea from France (though chips/fries are Belgian originally). Indians run almost all of the cornershops because these places are open from 7am to 11pm and no Brit would ever have that kind of work ethic to work 16hrs a day for 7 days in a row. The Chinese run so many chinese food places because their food became extremely popular here after it was introduced in the 70's so any migrant opening a chinese takeaway in the UK was guaranteed to succeed, they knew we also like chips so they integrated chips in to their meals.

Not eastern European or Jewish either as every intelligent person on Earth knows that chips originated in Belgium.

If you think of Dundee as it is today but in the middle of the 1800's it was one of the most industrious trading cities in Britain so it makes sense that some new grub from elsewhere might get served here first.
