@secretsquirrel572 I've noticed that right wing Americans or "patriots" like to espouse how important freedom is but you hate people being free to choose their own lifestyle. To republicans every American must be a hard worker, or else. I'm not defending blue cities, I'm a liberal but even I get disheartened at the amount of layabouts blue cities have, I just struggle to understand how republicans claim to be the true defenders of freedom while attacking people who want to live off grid or without an employer. The reason blue cities attract more 'hippies' is because they are in fact much more free than red cities. That's basic common sense.

In Europe shithole cities get a heap of grants and subsidies to help them rejuvenate, when said city has risen enough those grants then go to the next shithole city. This bottom-up investment means that urban decay is kept relatively at bay. I've noticed in the US though that cities that flounder tend to just get left to rot, this seems to contradict the US mantra of "being the greatest nation on Earth", take Detroit for example, that city should be held up as a poster for American heritage, it is the American equivalent of Birmingham here in the UK and so Americans should be striving to preserve that city in the same way that you preserve old warships. And yet despite that city once being the standard bearer for what Americans could achieve it just gets left to fester and decay, all of the prosperity that city once brought to your nation is just left to die.
