The birthright must be kept from them at all costs, if the power of the stripes becomes known to them they will devour us. Like spiders!

IT'S SO SHINEY I COULD DIE!!

+Ben D This is the northernmost settlement with at least 1,000 permanent residents, which is the general requirement for town status. Alert is not a town, it rarely even has permanent residents.

+Kittenmage Bone It's much like anywhere else, but there it's made of wood.

***** You can live 50 metres from the reactor for the rest of your life and never get sick. It's only the core that is emitting serious doses of EM radiation so don't approach it and you'll be fine, which no one does anyway, they use robots inside there where most of it is still to physically hot for humans still. The reason that there is over a thousand square kilometres of no-go zones is because everything is covered in a layer of radioactive particles that went up with the heat in 1986 and fell across the region in the following weeks. They have settled now and won't hurt you unless you inhale or ingest enough of them, so don't go kicking dust up in to the air and don't go around eating berries, lettuces and fish and you will be fine. There are hundreds of permanent inhabitants who get their supplies from outside.

+Jacob Blackburn There's around 1,500 in the exclusion zone, but not living in Pripyat, in fact the city is too close to the plant you can only visit the immediate vicinity of the plant. The zone covers half of the country of Belarus and that is where many have returned to their rural homes.

And yet all of the stupid, unfunny, childish comments are coming from the right rather than the left. Strange that.

The best explanation of AC vs DC is to think of saws, a chainsaw works by having the teeth constantly travelling in the same direction - that is DC, a handsaw works by you pushing the teeth forward and then pulling them back, and repeating this - that is AC, the current that alternates directions.

Ciao is hi? I always thought it was goodbye 😐

And dye the water red, white and blue.

Most mammals (including us) have dozens of possible sex chromosome combinations, it's just that 99.9% of the population are either XX (male) or XY (female). Others like XO (Turners) and XXY (Klinefelters) are extremely rare and for all intents and purposes look and act either male or female depending on the dominance of whichever chromosomes are in there. In cats an XXY is a male cat, born sterile but can inherit a female-only pattern such as calico. It's sort of a double whammy that requires two otherwise exceptionally rare things to occur, first a cat must be a Klinefelter male, then it must have calico genes. The reason the cats are only semi-rare instead of being one in a billion is because people aim to create them with selective breeding. Like breeding two dwarf dogs to create the toy breed.

Probably to match or become a multiple of whatever the original footage was. If something is recorded at a non-standard frame rate it can appear stuttery when encoded to play much faster, something recorded at 15fps can be multiplied by four to get 60 and so re-encoding it at 60 would allow it to play back at 60fps as though it was still running at 15fps. If it was recorded at 17fps on the other hand and you try to re-encode that to 60fps then you would introduce split frames or you would alter the timing of the original footage because you can't multiply 17 to fit 60.

North America is the continent, just like Europe, you can be European and French and you can be North American and Canadian.

Because big gun make you big man, chief of woman!

+LUCKYJ3SS3 The acting was superb, absolutely top drawer stuff, why no one was nominated for an Oscar was beyond me. In fact I'd say the acting in that superbly acted film was second only to Final Destination 5.

I've stopped clicking on timestamps. When they stop forcing me to watch an advert before every timestamp I might start again.

+Catnam Of course they have cannabis, hemp is one of the most widely used materials on Earth.

Or punctuation.

I like any video where I get to see a barking machine lay an egg.

Exactly, glad to hear you are onboard with climate change and second trimester abortions then and everything else that scientists state.

@oldsguy354 "That was even the case at the founding of the nation" Sorry to break this to you, puddin', but you can't be born in a nation if it does not yet exist, so no, not a single one of your founding fathers - or any person in the 13 colonies at the time of the declaration of independence - was "born in the United States". They were born in the British Empire. Also the part of the US constitution stating that only natural born US citizens could become president did not come in to effect until 35 years after it was written int the constitution, and this was because of the very fact I just writ above - the founding fathers knew that none of them or their children could ever call themselves natural born since they were alive before the US came in to existence. It was the 1800's before that particular piece of legislation started to be enforced.

The stripey ones.

Whereas it's pathetic what others believe despite having access to almost all of the knowledge mankind has ever possessed. Does it not bother you that by the time a child is 8 or 9 they will already be smarter than? Of course it doesn't, ignorance is a choice and you chose it.

It doesn't smell like you would expect, that is unchlorinated water so would not smell like a swimming pool and it's not heated so it wouldn't smell humid either, I also very much doubt they would let saltwater near that machinery so any smell there likely wouldn't be anything to do with the pool.
1
When describing AC and DC I use saws as an example with DC being a chainsaw and AC being a regular handsaw.
1
Only the 23rd chromosome is X and Y, the other 22 chromosomes have their own names and play no part in your sex.
1
Because you get your skin colour from one of the other 22 paired chromosomes, the XX or XY chromosomes only holds the foundation of what goes where, the other 22 then confer in their pairs to see whether you are getting dad's height or mum's height or dad's eye colour or mum's eye colour, etc

Nah, that's because women have more fatty tissue, there's some sort of catastrophe on the horizon and women have been preparing for it for millennia. When it happens they will eat all the men and hibernate through it to rise anew as a hermaphroditic species. Probably.

Strange thing to post here.

Actually half of the commonwealth does this, including parts of Australia.

They go round feeling kliens.

The drug application use would suit chemotherapy as currently you are unleashing a horrendous cocktail of chemicals on your body that ravages all of it and not just the cancer site, if you could use something like this to release or hold the chemicals only at the location of the tumour it would be as revolutionary as proton beam therapy was to radiotherapy, where instead of irradiating your whole head there was suddenly a treatment that attacks only the tumour inside the head.

Do you speak of the spice Melange?

That one was at the HQ of the company that built this one, Edinburgh Designs.

@NotJeff589 I hope you've did a bit of learning over the past year and aren't still embarrassing yourself by pretending to know about subjects you clearly do not know anything about.

He's Australian.

They'd forget where they were otherwise 😉

I think the biggest thing that blew my mind about electricity was when I realised (a long time ago) that electrons don't get used up, they just move. When I was young I thought electrons were like a fuel, the sockets on the wall delivered them, and batteries were filled with them, and once they were gone your device would stop working - it really blew my mind when I learned that electrons = "work", that it's only when you drag electrons around a circuit that it does what it's supposed to, and that AC is when you drag them back and forth. I remember when I was about 13 I came up with the analogy that DC is like a chainsaw with the teeth constantly moving in one direction while AC was like a handsaw where you push and pull the teeth back and forth - the electrons don't power the device it is the mechanism moving the electrons that powers the device, if you stop the electrons from moving the device powers off. When I learned that it was like my world was turned upside down and I was thrilled and so enthused about learning more.

It would corrode all of the pumps and filters and the rest of the machinery.

They are red of course.

And?

@mariacheebandidos7183 Yes we do, usually with proof.

It would corrode the pumps and filters and any other machinery.
