  2.  @EphemeralProductions  If they weren't grounded nothing would have happened, the fact that there were explosions (arcs) shows that the cherry picker most definitely was grounded and that the current just passed through the basket to ground rather than through the men (metal being a much better conductor than flesh).

  3.  @The_Andromeda_Galaxy  It is immensely unlikely though, far fewer things go wrong with buried power lines than with raised lines, here in the UK we are in an almost constant state of flooding and our power grid is fine. I think power lines are just out in the open in the US because republicans would never let democrats spend money on burying them since "safety is for pussies" as Donald Trump would probably say.
