  1. Dundee's most infamous son, supposedly Kidd was actually a privateer and was only killed as a pirate because after ending a war with the Dutch (I think?) Britain didn't want them to know it had commissioned him to sink their ships. Though there's also evidence he was a pirate and enjoyed it.
