There are many reasons, one being that all humans initially make noise to get attention and males just got it programmed out of us early on by the "boys don't cry so toughen up" mentality in our society. Another is that throughout history a solo female's main defence mechanism was getting help rather than tackling danger like a solo male might so their instinct is still to make noise when in danger and seek help. Another still is related to attracting males, women want to be protected, men want to be protectors, ergo they subconsciously exagerate how scared they really are to seem vulnerable and worthy of protecting - if you want to know if a girl likes you watch a scary movie with her. There are many more reasons still, almost all of them subconscious and almost all of them because of how society sees males versus females and how it deems we should both act in any given situation in order to be perceived as 'normal'.
