@JamesAnderson-dp1dt Someone else said it was more than all of the other commands combined but that would mean greater than 50% so I reckon your 20-25% is closer to the mark, significant but not daft.

If your enemy had caused the loss of an entire generation of men and then 30 years later they were doing it again to the current generation then no one is going to blame you for wanting - and trying - to annihilate every last one of them to extinction. At least not until 75 years later anyway.

Precision was always going to be highly sought after. A single missile is more economical (and ethical) than blindly dropping 600,000lbs worth of bombs in an area and just praying you hit your objective.

It's shocking because we Brits don't get blamed for what the Nazis, Soviets or Japanese did during the war, but we get Dresden thrown in our faces all the time.

Exactly, 30 years earlier Germany had killed an entire generation of British men and now they were doing it again, it was fair to say that hatred for Germans peaked in the 1940's and no tears were shed in the UK over dead German civilians. Anyone in their right mind at the time may have come to the conclusion that Germans were hellbent on destroying Europe and so killing them off first was not only justified but necessary.
