  5.  @PatrickComley-1973  Sosus is overrated, it can supposedly hear "every sub in the world" yet every time a sub is lost it takes days or weeks for someone to find them and when MH370 smashed in to the Indian ocean the noise was so faint Sosus could only narrow it down to "somewhere in the south of the Indian ocean".

  8.  @julius43461  China also has the great subterannean wall (or is it subterranean great wall?) whereby they've built a large underground network along their east coast to hide ICBM launchers and they routinely reposition them. Similar to Russia's mobile launchers but observers have to guess where in the country they are since the only visible parts of the great subterranean wall are the various entry and exit points.

You won't keep it unless you resort to using nukes because China's industrial capacity absolutely dwarfs that of the US and just like in WW2 the winning side will be the side that can replace ships, tanks, guns and people faster than the other side can destroy them. Of the 21 shipyards in China the three largest each has a capacity greater than all US yards combined. Admittedly the US has allies that can build ships but Donald Trump is working hard to drive them away.

  13. I think it was a Panama canal type thing where one group envisioned it and attempted it but another made it reality, I know we Brits tried to build a canal for goods but it's the first time I've heard that we completed it, I thought it was the US.
