Democracy doesn't work, it has never worked, the Greeks turned their back on it within years of creating it because people voted selfishly and the nation suffered for it - the voice of the people is not always the correct one, look what happened to Germany in 1934. Democracy would work in a society where every member of the public was literate and could recognise a propaganda merchant when they see one, but no society is so far that advanced though the Scandinavian countries come close. In 2016 the UK voted to leave the EU because one man, Dominic Cummings, wrote "350 million pounds better off every week" on the side of a bus.
