  1. How is money going to be saved? Motorways are now going to have to be widened to gain the much needed extra lane that smart roads provided and that will cost about 100 times as much as converting the hard shoulder into a smart lane ever did.

  2.  @globalist1990  It was done to save money... converting all of the hard shoulders into an extra lane cost tens of millions, building an actual extra lane on every motorway would cost hundreds of billions.
