  1. N Gabino, what have aircraft carriers got to do with anything? They are force projection only, they became obsolete in conventional warfare with the advent of the cruise missile. Against banana republics and desert nations far away they are fantastic, but against any developed nation with missiles all 90 possible aircraft aboard a carrier would be bogged down trying to stop the carrier from being sunk.

The origin of the term is vague, but thought to be British in origin and since the Bulldog is a symbol of Britain I assume (possibly incorrectly) that it's something to do with puppies being small, but a Bulldog puppy is still a Bulldog. Bullpup rifles are smaller than regular rifles but just as powerful since they have all the same components but those components are further back in to the stock rather than directly above the trigger to save space. So small dog, big bite is my guess.
