@equalityforall8418 His opinion wasn't a crime, it was a tort, a civil wrong.

@equalityforall8418 Go on then, tell us where the arrest warrant can be read, name the district attorney who prosecuted him.

Ironic considering it was American Nazis who murdered him.

@tyerannical3650 Yer being a drama queen, in this instance nobody's rights are being taken away, the rule of law has triumphed. Jones himself recanted his opinion that the shooting was a hoax, so how can anyone who supports him claim to believe it was a hoax & then expect a court of law to believe that the shooting was a hoax. which is what they would have to have done to not find Jones guilty. Bottom line is that there are laws in existence that punish defamation & Jones ignored them. This isnt a rights issue.

@itsabovemenow1016 It woulda been a freedom of the press argument, not a freedom of speech matter. Freedom of speech woulda been like being overheard in a cafe or restaurant saying this or that about Sandy Hook, not deliberately broadcasting an opinion. Jones broadcast to millions of people who view him as an authority on such matters, it was slander. A similar case in the UK in the 1990's, a Journalist stated that the Olympic Champion Sprinter Linford Christe was on steroids. Christe sued for slander & won. Christe then went on to get banned for taking steroids a year or two later.

@itsabovemenow1016 I wasn't being pedantic in any way, theres a big difference between being sued for broadcasting defamation & being sued for expressing an opinion in an organic, day to day setting & I made the point in the the current political climate where they are trying to prosecute people for voicing an opinion. I am in agreement with the judges in this matter & if thats how you saw the case playing out then Im not going to argue with you, however, the distinction I made is both valid & it is also an important one to make in public, like I have.
