They wont be allowed to rejoin unless they accept the Euro & I cant see them abolishing sterling. But theoretically, they would have to apply, they would have to go through the accession process again before they were accepted. Its not like they can turn around & rejoin like nothing ever happened, countries like Turkey have been on the accession waiting list for decades, the Brits would have to make permanent political adjustments at home before the could ever rejoin & like I said they will never be accepted again until they adopt the Euro as their currency like every other "New" member.

Call me Irish if you must, but its almost like hes telling us that the flippant, fashion victim politics of criminally over compensated Hooray Henry & his smash n grab mob of bent over bootlickers are a failure in the modern world ? 🇮🇪

In fairness, Britain always has & for the foreseeable future will remain culturally & politically strong enough to stand outside the EU. Im not a fan of the Tories & I didnt & dont support Brexit but a sensible Government would have zero problem leading the UK in the modern world while cooperating with an EU that bent over backwards to accommodate their idiocy all throughout the negotiations, offering them a customs union & a place in the single market all throughout.

@kadran3263 I don't disagree with you, and on a personal level there is a lot I would fix about the UK & that I believe will need to be fixed before they would ever be allowed to rejoin the EU. But outside of that, I don't see any major political or cultural difference between them & the EU that would prevent us doing business harmoniously along the lines of the "Soft Brexit" deals the EU has previously offered them. Basically Brexit in Name only. They will have forsaken their voice at the decision making table etc & will have to re-adopt the EU compatible rules & regulations regarding trading standards, customs union & the free movement of goods, workers & services that they had abided by for 50ì+ years already. If the EU has already offered it to them there's no reason it is no longer acceptable to the EU. Its just going to take skilled diplomacy by & a renewed commitment from the UK to once again act in the spirit of cooperation they have recently abandoned.

The UK is a modern industrialised democratic country with an economy that's in the global top 10, even if you dont like the Tories you cant deny that the Brits would be, as they always were up until they left, an addition to the team.

@trident6547 Well said, on most if not all that you said & during the actual Brexit process & the ensuing negotiations I was saying the same or at least similar to what you are saying now. However, the past is the past, negotiations are complete & now my focus is on moving forward in the most harmonious way we can, therefore I was speaking magnanimously. From a personal pov I am a battle scarred Irish Republican. I have zero fondness for the Tories & I have even less loyalty toward the political entity known as the UK. However, we are neighbors & so long as everyone stays on their own side of the garden fence I cant see why we cant get along when it comes to communal matters.

@maxharbig1167 I wouldn't support any movement that would allow them to instantly rejoin but I am equally unwilling to deny them due process, even though they have done so to me time & again. Someone has to take high road & as an EU citizen I would have zero problem with the UK going through the application process. Im speaking from the pov that if the UK goes through the application & accession process it will have to conform to & commit to abide by the existing EU Treaties & in doing so as a new member they will have to adopt the Euro as their currency. The EU is more than big enough, more than stable enough to afford the UK due process.

@ai-d2121 The current crop arent great but I do believe in the British people & I believe they will rise above their current low standards, eventually.

@roisinmalone3015 Now now Rosin, we must at least try to be constructive & flex our democraticly principled muscles as good EU Citizens, God knows enough of our own have fought n died for those principles over the centuries. So lets keep it real between yerself n meself coz Ive a notion we might kick with the same foot. Brexit was & is a self-inflicted wound. whatever problems the British People are going through could be fixed tomorrow by a snap of the fingers but for whatever reason they have deemed themselves needing to suffer a bit & as a socially democratically minded Irishman I have to respect their choice, so long as their choices dont unreasonably affect us all & infringe upon their international agreements signed, sealed & delivered long before Brexit was ever so much as a twinkle in their eye. The reality is that Britain has chosen to take a step backwards, therefore it would be zero problem for a Government with integrity to lead them into taking a step forward & rejoining the modern world as a good neighbor.

@roelkomduur8073 Im not British, I have no loyalty to Britain & as an Irish Republican I have zero respect for their judiciary or their sham democracy, therefore I dont disagree with you & I shed no tears for them. However, I do believe in the British People. They aren't perfect but they do have good qualities & when they get it right they can obtain & sustain excellence, therefore I respect them. I disagree with them on many important issues, social domestic issues but I believe even at their current worst there is still room to reason with them, & as such all is not lost. It might take time, it might take decades or even a century but the political improvement is going to have to come from within the British People. As EU citizens we had a friction free neighborly relationship for 50+ years & that relationship hasn't been undone in its entirety since Brexit, there are still solid diplomatic foundations in place that can easily be built upon.

@roisinmalone3015 Reform = Tories out, House of Lords abolished & replaced, Police & judiciary reforms, Data protection, civil/political/human rights protection, etc etc are reforms that need to be made & policed in every Western country not just Britain. London needs to keep its nose outa & its interfering anti-democratic paws offa Irelands parliaments & in turn Irelands parliaments & the European Commission has to do more to protect Irish consumers from British corporations. All the blames & all the improvements dont fit into one bucket, we all have major work to do.
