Can we impact the environment for the worse? Sure. But ultimately we are subject to the whims of nature And cosmology. We are currently living between ice ages. We have had half a dozen or so major catastrophes since earth formed and dozens of minor ones that nearly wiped us out. Look up the Younger Dryas event of 12,800 years ago. Randall Carlson a geologist is Fascinating. We have to get off this planet if humanity has any long term future at all. What most people deem as " catastrophe " is nothing like the real thing.
