  4. Usually occurs in major metropolitan areas where democrats hold sway. While many are deserving of the title and earned it. Most are appointed by virtue signaling mayors with little regard to experience and or qualification and a political agenda. Keep in mind most police chiefs are white male. Primarily due to demographic make up. It may be an effort to reach out to minority communities. Which if it works well is o.k. Keep in mind any quality police chief can effect a positive enfluence on the community regardless of race. A Sure sign of a political/or diversity hire is the quality of service to the community that is heavily influenced by the mayor or city council regardless of citizen safety. It's not the race of the chief but the quality of performance to the PUBLIC not the POLITICIANS. This can be a tightrope walk. And a good chief can maintain his balance and still meet the needs of the community. 😊
