Outside of the borders of the PLC lay Russia's conquests of the 'Mongol' Khanates. As you notice what the borders of Russia looked like outside of the PLC you are bound to realize that the the Ukrainians were allowed to settle on Russian land, as Russians. We Americans allow Mexican immigrants to enter and settle in the United States, as Americans. At no point do we recognize the land that Mexican immigrants settle on or cities they live in, as future Mexican land, right?

It felt quite preachy. The problem with this sort of conclusion is that people forget that Libertarianism has been attempted as a model of governing and failed miserably. In one of the New England states here in the U.S. Libertarians invaded and took over a township with sheer numbers. They got rid of all local taxes, got rid of all local services, and about 3 years later, all the Libertarian geniuses had to eat crow because their Utopia wound up with uncollected trash piling up, which attracted bears, which ultimately resulted in bear attacks against the families of said geniuses, living there. The geniuses wound up creating a crime spree, because they thought they'd save a few pennies on electricity when they turned off all the lampposts at night. Governments (nobles, priests, congressmen) don't exist because someone is forced to have them, they exist because they are the original and most primitive form of job specialization, starting with the Chief Hunter in the Hunter Gatherer Cave. Human beings like having someone to lead, to remove the trash, to prevent the spread of diseases, to alleviate the poisoning of water sources and ultimately, to protect ourselves from lions and tigers and bears, oh my. :D We might not love it but all societies use 'nobles' or 'elected officials' or whoever, to do a job of civic administration on their behalf. Because having to deal with a bit of tax collection/oppression is still a 1,000 times better than than 10,000 years later, having to live in a cave, with stone age technology, being worried about a random bear attack or a gang of marauding rapists and murderers.

And the South is no different in that, from any other culture in those latitudes. Northern people by nature are cooperative, a society in the North cannot survive without working together to get through the hard times. Warm weather people rarely have to face the possibility of deadly winters and selfishness and shortsightedness is the norm. The U.S. military requires the South to provide soldiers, not intellect or military cohesion. Southerners are by their very nature/nurture resistant to cooperative combat. The South lost to the North for various reasons, ability of the individual fighter/solider was not among them. The reason the Confederacy lost is because every ass in the South thought he was the best at leading an army. The generals and every State of the Confederacy were out for themselves (hyperbole,) at the expense of their neighbors. Very much a representation of the Medieval attitude and the attitude of all central latitude populations. While the North was the epitome or Cohesive Imperialism. The Confederacy was a failed nation state from its inception because it depended on the States NOT being selfish. And every State in the Confederacy was a selfish cunt. So the Army of Northern Virginia was never going to be able to lead more troops from the other 'States' as they would never give up their sovereignty even temporarily or raise taxes to equip a better army. Going against a unified cohesive Union army, they simply did not stand a chance.

  16. I don't understand the second half of your analysis and this Russia you speak off. Russia wasn't a guaranteed nation state. There were multiple Rus Principalities, some of them being Merchant Republics like Novgorod and Pskov, while other were autocracies like Muscovy and Tver. To assume that a 100 years later one of them would rise to prominence and unite the Rus, the way the Muscovites did, is a huge leap in logic.

Were you aware that the 1836 Colt was the first firearm to have the rate of fire and penetration to match the Mongol recurve bow? 1836 Guns made a lot of noise. And massed ranks were all well and good. But a company of 100 Mongol archers would eat 100 arquebusiers as a snack, because they'd need a bigger meal for lunch. The Mongols would have range, penetration, and mobility. I'm honestly not sure how their tactics would become irrelevant by the 1400s. I'd love to pat my European ancestors on the back but I think you may be a bit too generous. The Mongols lacked administrative skills and their culture made a unified effort unlikely but I'm not sure that's the same as their tactics becoming irrelevant.

The problem with all of this is that Progressives have a Unified faith, Conservatives do not. A Social Conservative and a Fiscal Conservative are two faiths, one worships traditionalism while the other worships money, the 2nd Amendment faith and the White Nationalist faith and anti-government faith and anti-regulation faith are also very distinctive. The Pro-Lifer hates freedom of choice, the Libertarian loves the freedom of choice, that's a Civil War within a Civil War and the Progressives are not even involved. And neither of them would exactly tolerate the White Nationalist purges, so that's another Civil War within a Civil War. American Progressives who may not tilt Pro-Corporation, are however Pro-Money. The American Left are not some Communist stronghold, no matter what the Right wishes to say. The Right on the other hand is anti-government, anti-cooperation, anti-taxation, anti-administration but all of a sudden they we are to believe that they would support a powerful centralized, government, administrative, military government? LOLZ The military might tilt right, but the only reason their families get to eat is because the people on the left feel obligated to pay them a living wage, and provide benefits. A soldier in Alabama loves himself some Trump and MAGA but Trump and MAGA would look to cut his wages and benefits almost immediately, so that they could cut taxes for a golf course subsidy. These were the same issues during the Civil War, the South didn't want to pay their armies, to equip them, to maintain them, they all thought it was the job of the 'other States, next door,' to do all the fighting. The same disease of selfishness and would eat at the GOP forces from the inside, while the Democrats would cut Social Security checks and government checks to the red areas, and watch their economies implode from the inside. A soldier of the GOP still has to get his payment from the payment center in DC, LA and NYC and so does the senior citizen. And all the administrative stuff is centralized in those BLUE fortresses. More likely, they GOP side would claim victory in the first month, and declare that the remaining opposition was a States' problem, which would allow the hive mind Democrats to organize, mobilize and gain traction, while starving the GOP by cutting of financing.

  22. I think you are correct but not for the reasons you stipulated. Without Vladivostok the supplies sent by the US would stop from the East, leaving the USSR to be dependent on the port of Arkhangelsk. If those 18 Siberian divisions are delayed by 2 months, Moskva falls. Because Moskva was the rail hub (the center of the spider web) the supplies sent to Arkhangelsk would cease. The reason for the importance of the two Port Cities is massive. Without them, the USSR would be without 'refined' fuel. I don't mean the garbage that was used to fuel tanks and trucks, but rather the refined stuff from the US that allowed the USSR air force to fly. With the Soviet Air Force essentially neutralized, this would give Germany a massive advantage that they would be sure to exploit. Leningrad (St. Petersburg) would fall in quick order due to supplies no longer being sent through Moskva as well. And without Western USSR there is no USSR. The main population was in W. Russia, specifically Ukraine and Russia. Going east from Moskva, was simply pointless, since there was no one there.

Because history is hard, messy and quite frankly not all that interesting for grade and high school kids. California Spanish/Mexicans also declared Independence in 1836 signed by these apparent gringos: José Castro Juan Bautista Alvarado Antonio Buelna José Antonio Noriega What I am saying is that Santa Anna dissolved Mexico when he declared the Constitution of 1824 invalid and these remote States declared Independence. Both California and Texas were "Mexican" for all of 12 years and they've been American for about 200 years. So not the same thing as Ukraine which was part of Russia 1649-1991 and the Capital of the Kievan Rus (Proto Russia) from 882-1240.

China is hand pollinating half of their fruit because they wiped out their bee population with pesticides and are now attempting to introduce foreign bees to restore their ecosystem. However blaming the communists for everything, is a crutch, when everyone else was doing the same thing. Here in Los Angeles, they literally took spent nuclear fuel rods, paved it over with cement and put housing on it. People are dumb. But Soviets this and Communists that, is a weak argument, when China is becoming the biggest green energy producer on the planet. He should dig deeper.

And I would say this allowed not only for population explosions in Eastern Europe but also gave rise to the Industrial Revolution in Western Europe, as city populations were allowed to explode, with the increase in the amount of food. It would be interesting to find out if Europe would actually become the super power of the modern world without the introduction of the potato.

  50. I would have added the low interest rates as a major reason for lack of social mobility due to a lack ability to pick up and go somewhere else. Higher interest rates, mean that someone can buy a house and sell it for roughly the same amount, and move somewhere else, relatively easy, in search of better employment. When the interests are low, the house prices are high, trapping the individuals in $500,000 mortgage and since a person with a mortgage can't get out easily, he is unable to relocate for work. Essentially, you will pay the same mortgage whether your interest rate is 5% or 1%, the only difference is how much you owe on the house (principal,) high interest means you can save a few extra dollars and pay off your mortgage (principal) earlier, while a low interest rate traps you since the principal owed is usually astronomical. Low interest rates have turned Americans into serfs tied to the land, with little ability to leave a bad boss or an exploitative company, due to these Federal shenanigans.
