  1. Los Angeles had a trolley system. Then in the 1950s, General Motors and Ford came in and agreed to build auto factories if the City Council agreed to remove their completion, so the City Council agreed to tear up the trolley system. They literally ripped out all the rail out of what is now Ventura Blvd in the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles had been left without a viable public transport system for about 50 years. So another reason some cities don’t have a metro system that is well developed, is GREEDY car manufacturers.

  2. Possibly or maybe that's the story they sold to the Los Angeles consumers. I doubt that the Los Angeles Trolley System was more accident prone than the San Francisco one. San Francisco still has the Bart and we don't. Now, Los Angeles is robbing the working class and middle class to create more apartments to create more housing for the impoverished population that doesn't belong in the City. Everyone's getting a free apartment, except the middle class and working class, who are being forced to foot the bill. (And I am stating this as fact and not conjecture, it is happening in my neighborhood. As for the 'free rent,' you can ask my friend's stripper girlfriend, who gets a $1,000 a month for her rent.
