  1. Good story but you seem to have forgotten/excluded a couple of key factors. - The U.S. population unlike Europe's population is still growing. Why is this important? Because even though the U.S. population is still growing it is still less than 50% of that of Europe. - Infrastructure is usually the result of building and expanding on previously established infrastructure. Last time I checked, there are still Roman Imperial roads from the days of Caesar running through W. Europe. The United States was literally a primeval jungle until about 200 years ago. So the starting points are about 1,800 years apart.
