Not sure I'd call this slavery. The % taken by the government is reinvested into training and educating future doctors and in the U.S. it would be simply called taxes based on national investment to educated said doctor. Universities cost money. And the U.S. has been guilty of doing a brain drain against many of our allied nations. So while this may be a bit unsavory to us, our doctors in the U.S. often have a $500,000 debt by the end of their med school, which does not include the cost of their primary (grade school) and secondary (high school) education which are free to the students but not to the taxpayers.
