  1. You could have also mentioned the difference between the Confederate States and the Union in the American Civil War. One was an extractive, repressive society while the other depended on free flow of labor and inclusion. Hence the difference in the ability to pursue a protracted war. But to say that North America did not suffer the affliction of an extractive economy is incorrect, rather the Extractive forces lost to the Inclusive forces.
