  1. The entire Russian narrative is we have a right to dominate, bully, terrorize and brutalize our neighbors into giving us concessions so that we can be lazy. The entirety of Russia's history is simply parasitic exploitation of its neighbors through violence and intimidation, a national model based on the Cosa Nostra in the 21st century. And while it definitively worked in the past, this is 2023 and the world isn't what it was 1,000 years ago but Russia still believes that the only way its people can thrive is to go and do a dark alley mugging against its neighbors. And pointing fingers at Putin is not all that fair, Russians support him, vote for him, and want him in power, so they support this narrative as a whole.
