I don't know what the thermal conductivity of carbon composites is, or what that curve looks like, but when you take the airplane from cold to hot (ramp to hanger, for instance) the carbon definitely takes longer to warm compared with the aluminum, but the inverse is also true. Once warm, it seems to take longer to cool off (to collect frost after being pulled out of a warm hanger, for instance). So from that very unscientific observation, I wonder if it is heating slower, but also cooling slower so that thermal load would build up. If that assumption is true, the thermal advantage of carbon would be greater after a smaller number of shots and may be a disadvantage after a certain number. Someone that knows about these things please set me straight.
