I know a dad who walked through a snow storm to see his wife after she gave birth (men not being allowed into the delivery room in those days). A literal snow storm. Ice packed thick on the ground. @I_the_Taco if I understand correctly she said that she needed a moment for herself, a bit of distance from him. Hence the whole 'you can't have the car because I might need it thing'. As it was the middle of Corona getting in a car with a stranger was not an option for her (and I bet she had no money of her own).
