@TonyMontanaDS we have coins. We also think we have sculptures. Think being the crucial word. We literally do not know what Cleo's mother looked like, or her grandmother. We also do not know exactly what people from Macedonia looked like at that point.

@TonyMontanaDS Huh? I am sure there are plenty of people in this thread who are from Europe... And boy, do I smell a greek nationalist...
6
Macedonian, family wise. Which means she belonged to a family that had roots in Macedonia... hundred of years before she was born. Oh, and we have no idea who her mum was.
4
Exactly.
3
@TonyMontanaDS ooooooohhhhhhh.... can of worms. Big one.
3
You assume that there a nicely labled statues that say Cleo number (insert number). There aren't.
2
@shinyagami8843 Reasonable to infer = I think... but have no actual proof. Oh, and he was born 1922 and passed away in 1986. So... not quite up to date research wise.
2
That would be fun.
2
@alabamaman5994 oh, my... you back on shift?
2
@NotSure-e5j exactly.
2
@aquilamflammeus5569 you do not have to be powerful to give birth to the child of a macadonian-egyptian ruler.
1
@Crypt0n1an so we don't know. And using the word greek when talking about the Macedonians is definitly stretching it... especially at that point in time. Do I think that it is likely that she looked MENA? Yes. Can anyone confidently say so? No. People like Shapiro who claim that we have good sources that allow us to picture her with any accuracy are talking out of their bottom. Throwing a fit because someone playing one of the Cleos is darker than what they rubb one out to is silly.
1
@sidar2071 and you know that how? When we are not even sure if the statue is her? Where is your time machine?
1
@michardav how do you know she was macedonian on her mother's side when we have no idea who her mother was?
1
@luizmatthew1019 'The locals'... who is that?
1
Maybe you should do more than six seconds of googling?
1
@shinyagami8843 Stop quoting a man born in 1922 who popped his cloggs in 1986.
1
@maxcarrasco260 why not?
1
@maxcarrasco260 indeed.
1
@falconeshield So... neither of all the Cleos? Because the snake thing is very likely a story only.
1
And?
1
@falconeshield yep.
1
We have no idea what her skin tone was.
1
@alostcause4035 we do not even know who her mum was. Nor are we sure about who quite a lot of people in her ancestry were.
1
One part of her family was from Macedonia - several hundred years before she was born. There are large gaps in the family tree; one such gaps being her mother.
1
@deathdealer312 erm... no. But as we literally do not know who her mum was we have little to go with anyhows.
1
@antmagor I wouldn't use that documentary as a source, if I were you. The results present and the conclusions made were rather sketchy.
1
@beezusHrist what has fiction to do with this?
1
We have no idea who her mum was. We have no idea who a lot of people in her family tree were.
1
@jdynasty7680 Paintings? Of one of the Cleos? Statues? We might but we are not sure. Have you seen the coins, mate? Coins are not about likeness.
1
@shinyagami8843 and?
1
@jfm14 Yep.
1
@moa19871 'We think they might have been' is not 'we know'.
1
Erm... she very much wasn't. She came from a macedonian dynasty that ruled Egypt. Her ancestor lived several hundred years prior to her. That does not make her greek. It makes her a macedonian-egyptian ruler. And we have no idea who was who on her mothers side... because no one can say who her mother was.
1
@tonywilson4713 neither they nor you do though.
1
@sandyfromwestchester7483 In America... And as off when are they considered white? Later than the irish who american protestants thought of as non-white and barely human.
1
@za-ir5ni which historical records?
1
@marcoszavala8435 Huh? Says who?
