Men frequently reported not wearing masks and following Covid protocols because they found them emasculating. Somewhere someone is typing up notes for their thesis on possible connections between behaviour in those two health crisis... and I so want to read that. I might need a swear pillow to get me through though...

Oh, and of course we do have data from before that when you look at STD campaigns during both World Wars.
