Vergangenheitsbewältigung in Germany means facing up to the fact that your great-grandfather was a Nazi, his brother a Mitläufer, their kids didn't want to talk about it... and you, although you know better, catch yourself repeating patterns of behaviour and thought that they upheld or ignored.
