@debrasmith4675 I am neither a cop, nor from the US, Debra. And did you just accuse the local police in that town (who are now getting death threats from rightwing extremists) of aiding and abetting? I do admit that I have someone working in the field of anti-terrorism in my very extended family. Not sure why that seems to be a problem for the wife of a cop?

She might have had hope that she was still able to communicate with him and help. Besides, he is an adult and, while sharing her house, must have led and independent life.
