@bettyjones6040 Washington was dead whe slavery was outlawed in all of the US, that much is true. BUT there were places that stipulated that you could only keep slaves for a certain time span after which they would be set free. Therefore Washington moved the people he enslaved every few monthes so he wouldn't cross that legal dead line.
