Wet, dirty hems are not comfy and look unseemly - so even if you could afford someone dedicated to cleaning the bottoms of your clothes why would you risk the hems dragging through horseshit, horsepiss, diverse kinds of sludge? Imagine entering your home or that of another member of society and bringing with you not only the stench of manure but the manure itself. And cleaning clothes, even when done by a skilled maid, quickly reaches the point where the sh!t simply will not move anymore. I have a distinct feeling that that story is not based in fact.

  47. My mum had to do that after raidotherapy - because she could not find a cotton bra that would fit her post-surgery breasts. She wore a lovely shirt under her bras that was supersoft and kept her warm while she got better.
