@jamesnoneyabizness5611 still: why? The place I was born in has friggin Autobahn going past it and another busy street (and having far more people living in it)... yet does make do with far less staff.

@petergraphix6740 and yet... that level of policing is absurd. Even if you have shops selling booze at every corner you can't make a case for that much police presence.

I just looked up the numbers for an area of Hessen, a state in Germany. Westhessen (one of the police departments) serves 1 million people. That's 1766 police officers and 307 admin staff for 1 million people living in an area covering 2500 square kilometers. Some of the busiest roads in the whole of Germany run through Westhessen; which also borders the department responsible for Frankfurt. Christ on a cracker... 50 officers for that flyspeck of a place even with a highway running past? 😮
