Yes. You do not even have to go that far because the bible contains heterosexual couples in heterosexual relationships. So you have gender identity covered, sexual identity, and sexual preference - all on the list of things parents can object to.

They going to lean back and revel in the fact that their work is now done... because who needs libraries when you can afford to buy books or do get them from the 'right' people (like their church) for free? They do not want people to read outside of what is needed to teach marketable skills.

Why not burn books? Because it looks bad and no one is making money out of it. Although there is a Republican that suggested doing just that.

@MetalMama-zb4wg they want to make sure that there is no space where you can read for free. Internet costs money, especially fast one. Buying books online? Costs money. Who doesn't have money? Who needs a librarian to point them in the right direction? Who needs the other services libraries provide? Who makes use and loves the community spaces libraries provide? Not Republicans.

There are married people in the bible. Men and women having children. Flaunting their gender, their sexual preferences, and the products thereof! The Bible fails the test of this bill right out of the door.

@chriskane4031 I do doubt that the Nazis checked if the papers and books they burned were produced with non-toxic materials. Nor do I think the GOP cares as they do have no problem with their own toxidity.

Shall we make that list of books that could be objected to under his proposal? Romeo and Juliet (for starters) The collection of fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm Rebecca Agatha Christie (collected works) .... Oh, wait... I forgott every math text book that mentions mother, father, brother, sister, families - because those do fall under gender identity, sexual preference, don't they. At least I will claim they do because now the kids have to cope with knowing that there are men and women who had sex with each other and flaunt it by being married and having children.

@beverlyweber4122 and it does help if adults in a kid's life are visibly reading themselves. Not just reading, but reading in front of them. When they make a habit out of talking about books with them, are open about not likeing something, loving something, being indifferent to a text, being upset by a text. The habit of reading and the tools to understand what they have read are some of the greatest gifts humans can give each other.
