  18. Do I have news how the 40s and 50s saw trans-folk. Trans-folk getting surgery was seen as progress and their stories were celebrated. Drag was part of plenty of plays and tv-shows. Women wore purple hair, using a rinse to colour their grey hair. The civil rights movement upset so many racists that the parties switched policies. Being anti-civil rights became a republican stance. The KKK was courted by Republicans quite openly. Leave Elvis out of this.
