I live in a small, rural community (not in the UK admitedly) and we have far more refugees and asylum seekers than most larger towns in the UK. We are doing just fine.

@gwangjuboy1 no one is asking you to take in the whole world. Don't be absurd. And that's all? 600000? Including people who moved for work and who are desperatly needed in the UK? How many exactly do you think other countries (who are far smaller and have less resources than the UK) have taken in?
8
@johnrussell3961 true - but the point still stands that they are not illegal and arriving by small boat is not either.

It's not fit for purpose.

@Darkangel-hy8ev which is due to whose policies? Who is not taking care of them although they have the duty and the resources? The Tories.
5
@PatriotPaul16 they are sacken why? How? What is your source for that? Do you think no staff is needed in a hotel which has people living in it? And if they are indeed fired whose fault is that? Oh, wait... not the fault of the person seeking asylum.

@gwangjuboy1 you okay?

@eddiecalderone I can put forth the argument that it is possible to share your city, town, village, hamlet with refugees. We have a long long history of doing just that. And yes, I can ask others to help those in need and respect their claim to asylum. Human rights are universal - the Tories and you do not simply get to ignore them because people make you uncomfy or you would rather put the money and time for proper resoures towards tax-cuts for the rich.

You okay?

@gwangjuboy1 yes, because asylum is a human right. But you made it a question of 'can we do this because' and they answered with a resounding 'yes, we can - and here is how'. You are moving goalposts like it is an olympic sport and you are up for a medal.

@chriswilde7246 which part of frontline eludes you?
2
@stevebandit1964 you mean other places manage without issues just like that? Nope, we put in the work and compromise. And leave Ireland out of this - they are not your toy to pull out and wave around.

@gwangjuboy1 are you quite sure you are in a fit state to comment on a public forum?

@ianoliver3130 at least they should be in front of a board pondering their professional conduct.

@darreno2428 the channel is not unofficial. It is the only one open to them as you have to be in the country to claim asylum. And no, arriving without papers does not make you illegal. It just means you have arrived without papers. The amount of times I have seen people arrive ar german airports who were from places like the US or the UK who simply lost their documents on a plane is quite high. And that's simply people who didn't pay attention. Refugees and asylum seekers are faced with goverments refusing to issue documents, goverments taking away documents, people threatening you if you are found witj documents, and situations where documents are lost while traveling under circumstances you clearly refuse to imagine. Please, try and read up on the matter before you give in to hate. I am sure you were raised better.
