@roverboat2503 No, not everyone knows that. I spend 18 years of my life being faced with people who very much didn't know that.

@Jay_Johnson your documents can be checked though if you are close to harbours, train stations, airports without being given a reason. If you are then found to be not in possesion of needed documentation you are in trouble. The 'not checking' part does not mean that the rules do not apply.

If you are no show for a flight you quite often loose the ticket completly or have to pay to rebook. Quite often you have to pay an additional charge to pay to be booked into another bockig class because your original one is no longer available. Quite a lot of holiday travelers do not hold flexibel tickets (especially ones you can rebook after messing your flight) so they would have to buy new ticket.

@flitsertheo why would a german bar have a photo of Angela Merkel? Or Scholz? They were and are not head of state. And every German would know the owner is not german if they put up a photo of the Bundespräsident in the same style Brits do with Lizzie. The last time Germans did something like that the DDR was still a thing.

@flitsertheo No, it isn't. You are just lacking information on how absurd and vile this would be for a german to see. The joke doesn't work because it fails to take a crucial piece of german history into account.

@johncostello3174 guess why?

@BENTWOONEZERO yes.

@BENTWOONEZERO No.

@baronvonlimbourgh1716 Nope. There are quite a lotmof people from third countries outside of the EU that are only allowed to travel to or through some countries in the EU.

@Jay_Johnson you most definitly have to have ID on you in several places in the EU. German police will enforce that by making you present your ID at a police station ASAP for example. And they will fine you. Depending on which third party country you are from or the circumstances of your stay in the EU your visa can be restricted to one EU country... or you can be prevented from going to an EU country. The rules for airports, train stations, harbours apply because they are legally tied in with the EU exterenal borders.

@richardhumphrey2685 you did vote for it though.
