  3. It's not that bad in real life... nah, it is even worse because there are variations within the dialects. But you are going to be okay! People will mostly speak with a slight regional accent only. And Herzlich Willkommen!

  5. Erm... no, not really. More like Germany being a Patchwork of what used to be big kingdoms, small kingdoms, small dutchies, even smaller dutchies, statlets run by bishops, abesses, the odd count or 235726372... May I recommend Simon Winder Germania? Great book you are going to love!
