  5. Evangelicals expect women to perform feminity in a certain way. Constant smiling (even when and especially when not suited to the situation) and the childlike voice are considered proof that you are doing 'being a woman' correctly. It is also considered proof that you are willing to Band yourself in a Pretzel for the cult. It also strengthens the lines between the in-group and the out-group. It is absolutly performative and at the same time carved into the flesh of women in evangelical movements.
